ENG410 Linguistic Approaches to Translation
Course Aims This course examines how major linguistic theories shed light on translation practices. Students undertake a survey of linguistic theories which have an immediate relevance to the field of translation studies before analysing translation issues from the perspective of the linguistic theories with reference to authentic examples. Upon completion of this course, students are expected to have a better understanding of the relationships between linguistics and translation and be able to formulate effective translation strategies using relevant linguistic theories.
