ENG221 English Lexical Studies
Course Aims This course introduces to students the study of words in Modern English from theoretical and applied linguistic perspectives. Lexical Studies focuses on the form, meaning, and use of words as a unit of language. The first part of this course describes the morphological structure and formation processes of English words. The second part of this course presents the main (formal, cognitive, and corpus-based) approaches to semantics, which is the study of meaning, as well as key issues in vocabulary acquisition and lexical studies research.
