Work Placement: Taichung YMCA International Summer Camp
Through my university's overseas internship program, I had the opportunity to work as a counselor at the Taichung YMCA International Summer Camp in 2023. I understand that a teacher will have to face many challenges. I need to handle unexpected events from students at any time. Despite the demanding workload, it provided valuable insights into the teaching profession and effectively taught me how to collaborate effectively with people from diverse nationalities and cultural backgrounds. I believe that this experience will prove invaluable when confronting future challenges.

Work Placement: Local Secondary School
I have participated in two internships. The first one was working in a local company as a marketing intern. It definitely broadened my horizons as it gave me different opportunities to put my learning into practice. Job duties such as researching, contacting different KOLs, and reaching out to potential clients enabled me to apply what I had learned.
During my internship at a secondary school, I had the chance to observe different teaching methods and the reactions of students. I could adjust my teaching in both private tutoring and in-class activities. Also, I could observe how students reacted to my new teaching methods, and I had the chance to develop my adaptability skills. It has helped me to consider teaching as a future career path, as I found it interesting when I started to teach and assist in in-class activities.

Work Placement: Local Secondary School
My work placement experience was truly transformative. I had the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge I gained from the lectures to face real-world challenges. I was able to develop practical teaching skills, which have been invaluable to my professional development. One of the highlights of my placement was modifying teaching materials. This allowed me to recognize the weaknesses of students, and I was able to help them more efficiently. The mentorship and guidance I received from the team helped shape my growth and gave me a better understanding of the industry.

Work Placement: Local Secondary School
Within the education concentration that is being offered by Hong Kong Shue Yan University, the institution also provides work placement opportunities where students are given a chance to acquire hands-on experience in classrooms in local schools along with observing the inner workings and collaborations among the educators. The placement and the mentors gave me a wide variety of knowledge ranging from paperwork work outside of class, how students should be evaluated and what approach to take when there are implications within the class. The experiences that I gained were truly valuable as I had the opportunity to manage and assist in a classroom setting, understood the intricacies of teamwork and responsibilities among the educators, and provided assistance in school-wide events such as their annual sports day and end-of-year ceremony. The entirety of the process from both Shue Yan University and the institution that I collaborated with were seamless as both parties offered great support and knowledge that gave me deeper understanding towards local institutions as well as the steps I should take to be a part of the educational sector.
