ENG340 Interpreting I
Course Aims This course helps students acquire English to Chinese and Chinese to English interpreting skills through intensive and rigorous drills in the language laboratory and take home interpretation tasks. In the learning process, great emphasis will be placed on listening comprehension and note taking skills (with short term memory developed in terms of linked thinking and educated guesswork). Particular regard will also be given to sight translation, transcription, glossary building and major principles relating to interpreting in different specific fields. In addition, students will be expected to read relevant academic papers on the topic of interpreting.
