ENG201 Comparative Literature
Course Aims This course provides a comparative study of representative works in Chinese, English, and European literature, enabling students to identify and analyze literary techniques and discern different perceptions and treatments of similar themes in various literary works. Through critical reading, analysis, and interpretation of literary texts from diverse cultural and historical contexts, students will develop their literary and cultural literacy, as well as their ability to articulate the relationships between different literatures. Moreover, the course will introduce students to new trends and developments in comparative literary studies, enhancing their understanding of the field’s evolving landscape. By honing their critical thinking and analytical abilities, students will be better equipped to navigate the complexities of today's globalized and interconnected world while conducting comparative analyses across various languages and cultural contexts.
