Two of our faculty members were involved in the biannual Asian Shakespeare Association conference held this June in Hong Kong at City U.

Dr Ffion Davies presented a paper in the panel "Remaking Hamlet and Hamnet" entitled 'Adapting a Poetics of Grief in Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet (2025).'

Dr Rebekah Bale presented a paper in the panel "Rewriting Shakespeare, Shakespearean Rewriting" entitled 'Fate, Fiends and Fixes: Issues of Agency in Novelizations of Macbeth.'

Both faculty members also chaired symposia during the three-day conference as well as attending keynote speeches and a variety of theatrical performances offered through The Hong Kong International Shakespeare Festival.

The next conference will be held in Singapore, Summer 2028!
