We were delighted to have four Year 2 students from the English Department participating in the annual Virtual Student Seminar organised by HKBU CIE in association with SYU and KIMEP (Kazakhstan). The theme this year was ‘Voice’. 

Betty and Gloria presented a paper titled: ‘Billie Eilish: The Expression of Anxiety, Loneliness and Rebellious Spirit of Generation Z in her Lyrics’. 

Hailey and Coco presented ‘The Unheard Voice: Refugee Identity, Voice and the Search for Community  in The Sunny Side of the Street’.

Our student presenters were commended by the organisers for their performance!

In addition, Assistant Professor Dr Ffion Davies gave a keynote presentation - ‘Reclaiming the Self: Voice and Trauma Recovery in True Crime’.
