To engage with the latest advancements in technology-enhanced education, Dr. Kacey Liu and our MPhil student Ruifan Zhou attended the JALTCALL (Japan Association for Language Teaching—Computer-Assisted Language Learning) 2026 conference hosted by Konan University, Japan.

Operating under the theme “Prevail or Fail?”, the event drew an international cohort of educators and innovators eager to explore how digital tools, pedagogical innovations, and AI are reshaping language teaching and learning in an age of rapid change and uncertainty. Organized by Konan University, the summit focused on the transformative effects of these emerging technologies on language instruction.

Dr. Liu and Ms. Zhou shared their research, “Examining linguistic shifts in student writing before and after the launch of ChatGPT.” Through this work, they contributed to advancing the global academic conversation regarding AI integration and the future development of the Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL).
