Deaf people have been deprived of their language rights due to language and education policies based on myths about sign language. With all the difficulties preserving Hong Kong Sign Language (HKSL) in schools for the deaf, Deaf culture has developed within different communities in our city. Through the journey of exploring its own identity, Deafhood has been an important topic of discussion in the last decade. The guest speakers from Brainfood, Aaron Wong (speaker) and Cat Fung (interpreter), will provide an introduction to HKSL, Deaf culture and Deafhood by sharing their experience in the local deaf community.
