On 10 October 2026, Dr Jenny Wan delivered an invited presentation, “Understanding visitor experiences in the digital age: Language, AI, and tourism research,” for students of the MSSCs in Smart Cultural Tourism Programme, Department of Sociology, Hong Kong Shue Yan University.

This sharing session showcased the use of language analytics, corpus linguistics, and artificial intelligence to explore digital visitor narratives through examples from tourism and hospitality. The talk demonstrated how interdisciplinary methods can offer fresh perspectives on visitor engagement.
The session also featured our MPhil student Vito Zhu Hongzuo, who presented on Hong Kong’s transport heritage, examining how the Star Ferry, Peak Tram, and Hong Kong Tramways are connected to memory, identity, and the public. His presentation provided insights into research linking tourism, language, and digital humanities.
