Following last year’s discussion of Haruki Murakami’s shorter works, Rebekah was a guest speaker at the Government Official Language Officer's Book Club to examine two short stories published in 1922 by F. Scott Fitzgerald — the American writer who profoundly shaped Murakami’s style: “The Diamond as Big as the Ritz,” a dazzling tale of wealth and fantasy, and “Winter Dreams,” often hailed as a precursor to his masterpiece, The Great Gatsby.
The event took place on May 15th at 6.30 with a good turn-out and lively discussions on issues such as money, class and naive narrators!
